Circular coating choices need data, documents, and realistic plant trials.
Akzonobel works with buyers to connect recycled feedstock, lower-carbon operations, and safer handling practices to coating performance that can be tested.

Mobius loop for coatings
Our circular economy work focuses on three practical choices: materials that can include verified recycled or bio-attributed input, coating systems that extend asset life, and service conversations that reduce avoidable rework. Claims are documented with defined boundaries rather than broad green language.
For lower-impact options, our advisors explain the assumed baseline, available test data, and the limits of any comparison. This helps procurement, EHS, and production teams evaluate tradeoffs with fewer surprises.
Three circular programs
Each program is tied to a measurable route, a document set, and a field-use conversation.
Chemical recycling
Evaluation of recovered raw material routes for selected resin and additive families, with quality checks before formulation adoption.
Mass balance
Certified chain-of-custody conversations for bio-attributed or recycled inputs where allocation accounting is used.
Bio-attributed inputs
Practical screening of renewable feedstock options when durability, color, cost, and regulatory expectations are still met.
Circular Coatings Report
Download the report package to review boundary assumptions, selected KPIs, and examples of how coating selection can support asset life and lower-impact material choices.
The report request also helps route questions to the right team. Some users need procurement language for recycled or bio-attributed inputs. Others need EHS context, application notes, or a comparison between waterborne and solventborne routes. Akzonobel treats those as connected decisions, because a lower-impact coating still has to meet adhesion, gloss, corrosion, weathering, and production window requirements.
Any sustainability claim should be read with its stated boundary, baseline, and test method. Broad words such as eco-friendly are not useful for approval meetings. A practical report package explains what was measured, which product family was involved, which region the information applies to, and what still needs to be validated during the customer trial.
